Green Key Funnel

The Green Key Funnel, located in West Pasco County, Florida, is a spring migration phenomena mainly for warblers.  Ever since its discovery in 2001, data has been continuously collected and reported from the stationary count position shown below.  Over 25,000 warblers of 24 identified species have flown through this funnel in the past 6 years.

All counts taken from this location on Green Key Road

This mangrove covered peninsula's unique shape determines the flight pattern of migrating warblers as they continue their northern migration.  At first light, warblers funnel past the stationary point.  Flying in an easterly path through the mangroves, they then turn north at the end of the causeway funnel.
